Dealer guarantee & consumer rights
NSW dealer guarantee
_Draft for review before launch. Confirm current thresholds with NSW Fair Trading._
Under the Motor Dealers and Repairers Act 2013 (NSW), licensed dealers must provide a statutory guarantee on certain second-hand vehicles.
- Vehicles: the guarantee applies to used vehicles less than 10 years old that have travelled less than 160,000 km, for 3 months or 5,000 km (whichever comes first). It does not apply to vehicles over 4.5 t GVM.
- Trailers: the guarantee applies to used trailers less than 10 years old, for 3 months.
- Listings that qualify show a "Dealer guarantee" badge and a Form 5 Motor Dealer's Notice is available for each one.
Australian Consumer Law
Separately from the dealer guarantee, goods bought for under $100,000, or vehicles bought mainly for business transport, come with consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
PPSR
We run a Personal Property Securities Register search on every used vehicle we sell and record the search number on the vehicle notice. Vehicles are sold with clear title.
